ST ANDREWS UNIVERSITY
The
Congress will be held on the premises of the University of
St Andrews, Scotland’s first university founded circa
1410. They have been most welcoming. The modern New Hall
will be the principal residential site for the delegates.
It has 500 rooms all en suite and serviced with lifts. There
are single and double rooms available. New Hall has its own
kitchens, dining room and bar. Located in the North Haugh
university grounds at the northern approach to St Andrews
and across from the famous golf courses, it is a short walk
of approximately one kilometre to the town centre and lecture
site. There is parking and a shuttle bus service. There is
a lot more about the University, its facilities and environment
on the Unversity website at www.escapetotranquillity.com
There
is a wealth of other accommodation in St Andrews. There are
grand and small hotels and a great many bed & breakfast
houses. Delegates not wishing to stay at the university residences
may avail themselves of the alternatives. Those wishing to
explore these options may contact www.visitscotland.com

The
focus for Congress will be the beautiful quad (court) of
St Salvator’s College in the town centre. One building
will house the common area designated for refreshment, comfort
and conversation in Lower University Hall and above it the
Heraldic Artists’ Workshop and poster presentations.
Lectures will be held at the Old Schools, the adjacent building,
in three lecture halls, each holding about 100 persons. These
are handsome buildings around a lawn but do not have lifts.
However, most steps are few except for the upper workshop/display
hall. A fine period room will be available for meetings of
committees and organisations, subject to scheduling.

A
site for the concluding banquet has been tentatively selected
at the University Hall, St Andrews which can accommodate
250 guests. There are many restaurants in St Andrews providing
a complete range of dining which may be used by those seeking
private meals or organisation holding their dinners.
