The tour departs at 0930 for Glamis Castle (weather permitting)
before moving on to Discovery point, Dundee. It arrives
back in St Andrews at approximately 1700.
Glamis Castle
Owned by the Lyon, later Bowes-Lyon, family since 1372
and childhood home of HM Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother
and legendary setting for Shakespeare’s “Macbeth”.

RRS Discovery (Royal
Research Ship)
Explore Captain Scott’s famous polar exploration
ship Discovery, built in Dundee and launched in 1901 to
take captain Scott to Antarctica.

Day tour to Edinburgh Thursday 24th
August 2006
Cost £25
Buses will leave St Andrews at 0800 and return for approximately
1730. An early breakfast will be available for residents
at New Hall. The tour will include a visit to Edinburgh
Castle in the morning with options for the afternoon.
Participants may wish to visit the National Archives,
St Giles Cathedral including the Thistle Chapel, the
Museum of Scotland or the Palace of Holyrood. This tour
will involve some walking. Lunch will be provided.

to Kellie Castle & Falkland
Palace Friday, 25th August 2006
Cost £25
The tour departs at 0930 and arrives back in St Andrews
at approximately 1700. Guided tours are arranged at both
sites. A packed lunch can be eaten in the grounds at
Kellie Castle (weather permitting) before moving on to
Falkland Palace via the small fishing villages of Fife.
Kellie Castle
Completed around 1606, the oldest tower dating back to
1360. Preserved as a family home.
